The Social Bus is Leaving … Did You Get Your Ticket?
Back when this Social sites thing first came around I was greatly disillusioned from it. There was no plainly visible business reason to partake in any of the activities within them. It looked like all fun and games to me. I didn’t pay much attention to it, but as we can all plainly see today, Social Networking sites are a big deal and they are here to stay … at least for a while. SEO is still required for your websites so be sure to check out the SEO training course.
Yes, I said only for a while. I don’t look at them as permanent because I have yet to really see anything that is permanent on the internet, and in particular, with marketing on the internet. How has the internet changed in the past decade. Anything the same? Are we doing everything the same way we did back then? Well, obviously we are not. In some ways, the more things change the more they stay the same, and I see some of this as being true, but wow, things have indeed changed. Mainly with technology becoming more and more … well … technical.
For me the first contact with the internet was through online Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) where you would login via a telephone call and be able to see all the postings others would leave behind. It was a great place to ask a question and get an answer. They were a lot like the forums and in some ways the blogs, that we are so familiar with today. Matter of fact, the BBS and the Forum are for all intents and purposes the same thing.
Today we all exist and do our work in this online world of business. The online world is where we make our income so we need to generate traffic to our sites, and also know that we will be able to generate traffic in the future. Social Networks are going to be supplying a great deal of the traffic we get as we move into the future.
Google made a statement that YouTube is the #2 method people use to find websites, falling in behind Google themselves. I would of thought it to be Facebook myself … hey, but what do I know? Twitter should be in there somewhere as well. What all of this means for online marketers and business people is that the future is in sight and it has a lot to do with social networks and social networking. It means we all need to get into this, not so new, trend and get current quickly. We will want to have a history as soon as possible to make us official online networkers.
I’m on Facebook, Twitter and many other social networks, but I’ll confess … I do very little beyond the two mentioned social networks. I haven’t got into videos yet, something I obviously need to get on the stick about. I do have friends on Facebook, quite a few really, and I’m being followed as well. We all need to realize that it is now time to get well established on these social networks if we are not already. It’s time to get into them and really spend some time marketing through their networks. Get some links to your sites, and links from your sites to your networks. Don’t get left behind in this wave of the future, it could devastate your online business.
