Most bloggers love to make money blogging about how to make money online. The interest of blogging has come at a stage where people would blog for anything that concerns about money (example, loan, insurance, credit card) than anything else. Today, I am going to turn the table around and share with you how to blog about food and make money at the same time. Sounds impossible? Read on then.

Most food lovers would usually be interested in food recipes and food reviews. Hence if you focus and write about them well, you can expect some good readership and followers for your blog.

Food Reviews Or Food Recipes?

If you have a great recipe to share, why not just write a blog post on it and share with your fellow readers. However, I would not suggest that you copy a recipe from somewhere and post it, or create a recipe out of your own when you have never try the food yourself. You may drive your readers away consequently. Hence, I would not encourage you to write about food recipes unless you are pretty sure of what you desire to share.

Assuming that you are a food lover, food reviews would be an easier choice and more popular approach since most people love to eat and keen to know where they can find the best food in town. Below are 5 useful tips that you may follow to make money blogging about food (particularly reviews and ratings).

1. Take Good Food Display Photos When Served

Food lovers usually love to see nice photos on the food display when served, follows by the food reviews itself. Food photos taken in very bad environment (eg. poor lighting) would require some Photo-shop skills to “touch up” the photo so that it looks nice and appealing to your readers. With these skills, you will be able to display “mouth-watering” photos to accompany your reviews. Great isn’t it? :)

2. Add Your Profile If You Are A Popular Food Reviewer

If you are a well-known and popular food reviewer, why not add your profile to the homepage of your blog and give yourself an introduction? This would add credential to your blog and your reviews would naturally attract tons of readers due to your influence and popularity.

3. Provide Honest Food Ratings And Reviews

Apart from appealing photos, food lovers love to see ratings and reviews too. Give yourself a range eg. out of 5 stars on how you would rate the food that you have tried. Write your most honest review in short paragraphs. Do not always give nice reviews, remember to mention the bad points too. However, you should always support your criticism with facts.

Tip: Remember! Your first food review is crucial to the success of your food review blog. Be more descriptive and always share your taste well.

4. Keep Your Readers Coming Back. Gather Your Supporters!

Your reader today might be gone for tomorrow. So how to keep them coming back? Well, apart from providing regular food reviews, provide means for them to return too. First, setup an RSS Feed for them to subscribe to your blog just like mine “Subscribe To My RSS”. Whenever you post a new review, they will be notified and read in their own RSS reader. Another way is to create a Twitter account like what I did so that they can be your “follower” and get updates whenever you are reviewing food again.

5. Monetize Your Blog With Adsense

Fastest and easiest way to monetize your blog is to add in Google Adsense ads. Adsense is the best pay-per-click advertising program so far as it rewards well and display ads that are most relevant to your blog content (food reviews). Competitive keywords like “food reviews” or “Spanish Food” will drive tons of visitors to your blog if you work on your SEO well.

Quality backlinks play a critical role in the field of search engine optimization and can have a tremendous impact on the amount of traffic that you generate. Without backlinks pointing to your site, it can be extremely difficult generating traffic on a daily basis. This will give you the ability to continuously drive in new traffic day after day.

There are many factors that decide your position on the search engines. The higher you are on the search engines, the more inclined people will be to click on your website. Conveniently enough, backlinks are one of the top things search engines look at when rating your website.

In case you are an internet newbie, backlinks are the links scattered around the web that point back to your site. You will find these links on forums, blogs, and any other websites that are willing to put your link on it. The more backlinks you have around the internet, the better chance you have of increasing your traffic volume.

If you think about it, your site is worthless if nobody knows about it. That is like having the worlds largest Wal-Mart in the middle of the desert and not telling anybody about it; you probably will not get much business. But having backlinks scattered across the internet will get the word out about your website. As someone runs across it on another site, they may click on the link and be directed to your site.

Now that you know what backlinks are and how they can benefit you, you probably want to know how to get them. There are several effective methods to getting backlinks pointing toward your website. The most popular and well known method is link trading. This consists of you trading your link to someone else for their link. This requires you to place their link somewhere on your website in agreement that they will place your link on their website.

If you truly want to benefit from this method, try to trade links only with websites that have a page rank the same as yours or higher. This will stand out to the search engines and increase your rank.

Another method is writing articles and submitting them to directories. The way this becomes a quality backlink is through the resource box at the bottom of the article. You are allowed to write a couple sentences about yourself or your business and place a link to your website in the resource box. As you submit your articles to thousands of article directories, people can click on your link.

These are a couple of the more effective methods to getting backlinks, but there is a plethora of other ways including posting in forums and sending out newsletters or chain emails. Whatever methods you opt to use, it is essential that you have as many quality backlinks pointing back to your site as possible.

Nowadays if we want a website to be successful, we have to deal with niche markets, great content, search engine optimization and tremendous competition. And this list is simply the starting point. We will quite possibly need to acquaint ourselves with marketing and copywriting and converting our visitors into buyers. However, for just about every webmaster, the big difficulty is bringing in traffic.

That leads us to the topic of this article. How can I attract Internet surfers to my site? One answer to this question is backlinks! So, exactly what are backlinks and just what do backlinks have to do with attracting visitors to my site?

The first thing to understand is that there are two basic forms of traffic, paid traffic and organic traffic. Examples of paid traffic are such things as advertising through pay per click networks, placing banners on other sites and any other way in which you are able to pay to attract a surfer’s attention and tempt him to visit your site. If you’re only focusing on paid traffic then you don’t need to pay much attention to backlinks.

Organic traffic is traffic that comes from someone searching on one of the search engines for a topic which they are interested in. Then when all the free listings come up the surfer clicks on a link to visit a webpage. In the case of organic traffic the webmaster does not have to pay directly for the link which the visitor clicks on.

In general, organic traffic is simply called free traffic. Despite the fact that it can be, it usually is not really free. To get a website page included on the first couple of pages of results the webmaster will have to put in quite a lot of work. This brings us back to the topic of backlinks.

Generally, the quality and number of backlinks attached to a site are what determines sites which appear when we do a search. A backlink is nothing more than a hyperlink from one site to another. So it is very helpful if you have a whole lot of websites linking to your site if you want to be ranked highly in the organic search engine results.

But remember that quality matters too. A backlink will be seen as offering high quality if:

* The words used to create the hyperlink (called the ‘anchor’ text) are highly relevant to the topic of the page which the link is leading to. (You should not use “click here”!)

* The topic on the site where the backlink originates is relevant to the topic on your site.

* The site linking to you has plenty of good quality backlinks pointing to it.

* The page rank of the site linking to you is relatively high (ideally a PR3 or more) and the higher the better.

Of course there are other criteria, but the criteria given here are a very good starting point.

So, just how does a webmaster go about building up the necessary quantity of high quality backlinks pointing to his site? There are many ways of doing this and an even greater number of software programs which are designed to assist in providing the answer. Purchasing the software increases the cost of your backlinks.

The truly free way is to simply wait for other webmasters to discover your site and think enugh of it to link to it. That is super, but can take quite a long time. Of course you can contact other webmasters and ask if they will trade links with you. You simply give them a link from your site and they give you one from their site in return. These are however called reciprocal links and are generally thought to be of uncertain value these days.

Another way is to make use of Article Marketing which initially means writing articles about subjects that are relevant to your site. You then submit your articles to several article directory sites and include links of your choice in the resources box following your content. Submitting your website to a number of site directories is another method that fits into the category of free links.

You might also opt to pay for backlinks. One of the simplest methods is to buy a link directly. Internet marketing discussion boards are a very good place to find links on offer. You could pay $50 a month or more to get a link from a PR5 site. You’ll get a lot of traffic from it, but you will pay for it. Naturally the lower the PR is then the lower the cost.

Whatever technique you choose, building backlinks is critical to your search engine ranking success. You’ll want to acquire hundreds or if possible thousands of them. The important thing is that you get started and build up your links steadily over the months ahead so that you can begin to enjoy a steady and growing flow of traffic to your site.
